How to Support our Mission

Prayer:

We are always seeking new partnerships and opportunities to extend goodwill to our residents, partners, and the world. We ask for prayers for wisdom, discernment, and the right opportunities to make a meaningful impact.

Financial Assistance:

None of this would be possible without the generosity of our donors, who entrust us with the resources to further our mission. If you feel led to be a part of this impact, we invite you to join us. Please click the link below.

Rental Assistance

Eden Companies has created their own program called the Eden Companies Gap Fund. This is for qualifying Eden Company residents who, after rates are increased due to renovations cannot afford the new rent payments. This is Eden Companies way of not adding to the affordable housing crisis as we improve the communities we purchase.

Residents who apply go through an extensive application process that ensures they are responsible and are in need of financial assistance.

Affordable Housing

Eden Companies has partnered with the Open Door Housing Corporation. Their mission is to develop affordable housing for individuals earning less than 30% of the median income in Lexington, KY. ODH is connected to a local church which has allowed them to build relationships and vet those who are in need of housing. They will be receiving a forgivable loan from the city for 90% of the costs, which will help fund more projects and serve more people. The EC Goodwill Fund views this as a scalable model for other churches to adopt, especially those who already own extra land.

Resident Care

Eden Companies believes that true emotional and spiritual enrichment begins with ensuring a person's physical well-being is being met. This is what the Eden Property Managers are for, and with their continued success we are now able to focus on the emotional and spiritual needs of our residents. In order to do so the EC Goodwill Fund will partner with the nonprofit Wayforward which specializes in focusing on the social and spiritual development of residents in the apartment community by sending a team to live onsite to build relationships with those around them.

Impact Stories

We had a resident living in a studio at Kampus Properties who faced several mental-health challenges and often struggled to keep up with rent. They consistently brought in cash whenever they could, but by the end of their lease they were more than $1,000 behind despite their efforts. We didn’t want to see them end up without housing, so we offered them the opportunity to move to Flats at Fontaine, which had recently been renovated and needed new residents.

They shared that they were finishing school, had secured full-time employment, and were confident rent would no longer be an issue. Since moving, they have paid their rent on time every single month. They also connected with Way Forward, our on-site Resident Care and Ministry team, and have been attending Bible study. It’s been encouraging to see them build a happier, more stable life—and to see them truly thriving.

One of the residents we inherited when we purchased the Flats at Turfland has dementia and had been living alone for more than 10 years. She frequently wandered around the Turfland Mall area on foot, and we were always concerned for her safety. At one point, she received a large past-due bill for her electric and landline phone—both of which she had forgotten to pay—so we helped her sort things out and prevent her utilities from being shut off.

It was clear she needed additional support. Rather than ask her to move during our property renovations, we enrolled her in the Eden Companies Gap Fund. While reviewing old records from the previous management company, we found a phone number scribbled on a sheet of paper attached to her lease. It turned out to belong to her brother, a kind man who had been unable to get updates on her condition due to the previous company’s communication issues.

He and their other sister arranged a meeting with us at the office to review everything needed to get her affairs in order. They hadn’t realized how much her condition had declined and were extremely grateful we reached out. Together, they were able to secure a spot for her on a waiting list for an assisted living facility, where she will move in the coming months to receive the care she needs to stay safe.
